Hey, I just recently built a pc and ran into a problem with the front panelUSB-C ports. I have a z690 Aorus ultra motherboard and a lian li 216 pc case. The lian li 216 has a USB 3.1 TYPE C and the motherboard has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 type C. I plugged everything together and realized the front usbc did not work. I did some searching and found another post here with the same problem. It said I would need an adapter but I haven't been able to find one. I was hoping someone here could help point me in the right direction. Or give me some idea of what adapter to buy. Thanks

Your motherboard would need a USB Type C header to connect to a Type C cable from the case front panel Type C connector.

Otherwise, you might could use something like this to convert a motherboard USB 3.1 header to adapt to the USB C connector.

If you don't have another USB 3 header on the motherboard you could also get a PCie USB adapter card that provides a USB Ty. C header.

The motherboard has a usb type c on it. I plugged in the front panel usb type c but it doesn't work. This was my first pc build so I am not sure why. I saw a older post about how a usb 3.1 won't work with a usb 3.2 but i don't know if that is the problem.

Yes, the front panel of the case has a usb 3.1. I plugged it into the motherboard but it is not working.
USB revision levels can be confusing and revision level without knowing which "gen" the revision is at just makes it even more so. But it seems to me that if the case's cable is constructed correctly it should adapt to the Type C header on your motherboard and provide bandwidth at the lowest rev/gen level both support. That it doesn't suggests it's not constructed correctly.

The (easy) fix choices are to find another motherboard for the case, find another case for the motherboard or find a PCIe card adapter that outputs the rev level and generation your case's connector/cable expect.

Take a look at this article for more information that may help you understand what's going on.
