My motherboard got fried but I don't the reason.

its an asrock 990fx extreme3. im wondering how did this happen.

My other components if matters:

amd fx8350 (never overclocked)
deepcool Lucifer (with push and pull fan system)
gskill rip jawsx 16gb ddr3 (4gbx4) 1866 cl9
corsair rm750 psu
powercolor r9 280x 3gb v2

also if the power supply is failing it can surge and blow the mobo.... have you recently moved the pc to a different room or house?

no, I haven't. the psu is new, just bought it 2 months ago. could it be the culprit?

you better just call asrock and ask for help
they shoul give you a new motherboard (and cpu if cpu dead)
I dont think it can be easy for us to tell you what's going on...

im from south east asia and i bought it from a local store. sadly its 2 years beyond its warranty.

i have to buy a new mobo but im afraid that it might be the psu. there is no way for me to test if it is indeed the reason. or is there a way for me to find out if the psu is malfunctioning?

you can buy a psu tester or pay 30 dollars or so to have a shop test it but you can also replace a psu for only a little above that.
