My MSI 970 Gaming motherboard is crashing on occasion.

I just got my MSI 970 Gaming motherboard and I let it run for 3 hours before putting it in my case everything was fine.
I've been using it for a few days now and noticed I (How could I not?) that is was crashing. I would just be sitting there playing a game when out of the blue the audio either cuts out or distorts heavily and every USB powered device shuts off.
The first time I sat there like an idiot scratching my head not sure what to do when of course more stuff happens- the Realtek audio manager program comes up and I start getting notifications that something was just unplugged from the audio jack. So of course after waiting ten minutes or so I shut the computer off and restart it.
I boot back in and nothing seems to be amiss.
Thank you for helping if you can. I just know how to build the PCs not how to fix every single problem.

That was a Blue Screen of Death, its caused when windows detects an error that it can't solve by itself. There are many BSODs caused by multiple reasons so, it could help to know the "name" of the BSOD you are having. The name is displayed in the blue screen, i.e: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, etc.

The problem is their is no actual blue screen or name, just a window of the Realtek Audio Manager with what seems to be an error. Thank you anyways

do you have your front panel audio and usb connected to the motherboard? are they on the same section at the front of the case? it sounds like it could be shorting from the front panel, since the audio board is on a separate pcb on the motherboard. I'd try disconnecting the front panel audio from the motherboard and using it that way for a few days.

I had the same problem. Support at MSI was totally useless. I turned off the built-in sound and then put in a soundblaster card and it went away. Thought Windows 10 and driver updates fixed the problem so I removed the soundblaster but it's still happening (though less frequently).
