My MSI 980 OC running at PCI-e 2.0 x16 in GPUz. I know that it may not be any performance gain or lose but I just want to fix it. How do I get the PCIe 3.0 up?

PS. I am running two MSI 980 cards on a rampage 4 black. Both card are in 3.0x16 slots, no other card are install.

Thank you very much
Nat

Look here for more info. Again though, remember that you aren't "fixing" anything, that's a fundamental platform issue in that only one of the supported CPU lines for x79 actually supports native 3.0. The easiest way to "fix" this would be to side/upgrade to a 4960x, especially since the RIVE Black is a refresh model specifically made to support IB-E from the get-go.

Im running on i7 3960x.
Thanks

I am running i7 3960x. I really don't it, I have pcie 3.0 native support but I cannot use it without a hack?
Can you help with the registry hack? I really don't know this.
Thanks

The 3960x does not support pcie 3.0 natively, no sandy chips do. I have no experience with the registry hack so ill leave that to doubletake. The board supports pcie 3.0 only with ivy-e processors (i7-4xxx). It really does not matter the 980 cant saturate the pcie 2.0 8x bus, you will be fine on pcie 2.0 x16.

Oh ok so the performance I'm getting right now is probably the same as if I get the registry hacked?
But the feeling still wanted to get the gpuz to show 3.0 tho. :bounce:
Thanks a lot smacker :)
