i have upgraded my graphics card from amd hd 7770 to a msi r9 390x. when i turn on my pc my card begins to run but dosent connect to the monitor. i have tried all of the ports and they dont output a signal.
my pc :
CPU: i5 3350p
MOBO: acer ipisb-vr rev 1.01
PSU: corsair cx600m

Solution
Most likely a driver error. Try to download the driver for the r9 390x either on an install cd or usb, and see how that goes.

Edit: After doing the following:
1). Plugging in the previous graphics card (HD 7770) and verifying that all other computer components were working.
2). Plugging in the new graphics card on a different machine and verifying that the other computer could not boot either.

We can now conclude that the R9 390x is defective, and will be returned to its location of purchase for a refund/exchange.

Cheers.

Try re-sitting the graphics card into the PCIEx16 slot, making sure all the gold teeth are covered by the plastic border of the slot.

Also, make sure your all of the cards power pins are connected to your power-supply, since the r9 390x is quite a power-hungry card.

If that doesn't work, plug the hd 7770 back in to see if that one outputs a signal.

I'm beginning to worry your motherboard doesn't support the card, but I'll continue to check. Keep me updated.

Got ya got ya. It's not looking too good then. On the bright side, all of your components are still working well with the HD 7770. If you happen to have another desktop at your house or at a friend's house, I would plug in your R9 390x to see if their computer can boot with it.

If the answer is no, then it's a defective card. You would proceed by returning it and reordering it/getting your money back.

If they are able to boot with the R9 390x, then we're going to have to take a closer look at your system.

thanks for your help. i have tested my card in my friends pc and it also didnt work. most likley the card is broken so i will order a replacment one.

Ah, sorry that happened to you.

But you did an excellent job troubleshooting, and it feels good knowing all your other components are working well.

Good luck man, and you'll be up and running in no time.

Cheers!
