1) You can boot the computer with just the 8 pin (A) connected. You really dont need the 4 pin (B) connector for existing chips (like a 2700x)
2) The (C+D) PCIe 6+2 pins are ment for graphics card supplementary power and cannot be used for cpu power as they are keyed differently and the pinouts are different.
3) Dont try to force the PCIe power connectors to work as CPU power or you may cause severe damage to your computer.

connect the 8-pin or both the 8-pin and the 4-pin
you only need to power the 8-pin for the system to work.
Manual: "Do not forget to connect the 4-pin/8pin EATX12 V power plug. Otherwise the system will not boot." I assume they mean BOTH 4,- and 8-pin...?
either try it like the other said. or get a new psu that have both.
