So I got a new monitor this weekend, an Acer GN246HL. Everything was going fine until my monitor's brightness suddenly went up really high. This was at default settings, I didn't change anything. This was also when it was connected via DVI, but it didn't change when I switched to VGA and HDMI. My computer worked well when I was using a tv as a monitor.

Here are some pictures of my monitor's settings:

Any and all help is appreciated!

try turning the Dynamic contrast, or what ever acer calls it off. it might be called acer dynamic lighting. it " senses" and adjusts brightness or contrast automatically. i always have it off, it drives me nuts going bright and dim all the time

Is it called DDC? I turned that off, didn't do anything. My monitor does randomly get a little brighter sometimes(in addition to its already high brightness)

Ok, I did that. It lowered the brightness, but its still really bright. I think that its the actual display that is too bright, not just the monitor. I also can't turn off auto config. Odd.
