My new pc wont recognise my headset as a way to speak please help

I built my new pc today and when i plug in my headset the mic isn't recognized

its a hyperx cloud stinger and just has a 3.5mm cable no usb

If headset has a single "combo" jack-plug, but PC has separate mic & headphone jacks, you'll need and adapter cable to "split" the headset jack-plug in to separate mic/headphone plugs - - like this one:

ok for some reason i had to plug the cables into the back of my pc instead of the front ports so thanks for the advice

maybe your front panel audio isn't working. Might be worth opening up your PC and checking
