My new pc

So I'm planning on building a new PC next week. I used to be a PC only gamer but switched to the consoles back when they were first released. I've now grown quite tired of the lack of graphics and ability to do anything worth while. So here is the PC i was planning on putting together, my questions are this, are all the parts compatible? My other question is, back when I played PC Games 4-5 years ago I built a PC around a motherboard which would be able to change with the times. I want this PC to be built in the same fashion, as later on I will be adding new parts to it. Will this motherboard meet my needs? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Why are you buying the 2700k rather than going with the 2500k?
Why are you using 16gbs of RAM instead of 8gbs?

Why are you using 16gbs of RAM instead of 8gbs?

I agree - that money should be going to the GPU - get a Radeon 7950 or a GTX 680 rather than waste money on the 2700K. Especially if you're going to be using your PC on a 42" HDTV you want the best resolutions you can get without sacrificing frame rates.

I was going to go with that cheaper CPU but my friend told me better CPU's are a better investment, and just pick up a new graphics card down the road. I really want to be able to max out BF3, thats my short term goal at the moment, so if a cheaper CPU is a better choice than I'll prob get one.

I chose the ram because the extra 50 bucks didn't really bother me, and figured again, that later it would pay off. THanks for the quick responses though.

Hows the motherboard? and what GPU Would you suggest? Cause I just picked up over time so I'll have an extra 100-200 dollars for the build.

As Intel is to CPU's at the moment - EVGA is to NVidia based GPU's. I'd go the 680 route.

If you've got the cash for 2 x 7950 - you should pay the extra $50 and go 2 x 680, that would be sweet.

yeah working overtime lol saying off. how hard is it and with the mother board support it. Amazon has it for 6 49 at the moment bit pricey.

1. That's completely false - the GPU is where you'll notice the biggest improvement on any build, not so much the CPU. Any given CPU benchmark roundup will only show a matter of a few points difference between - say a factory-clocked FX-8150 and an i5-2500K. Put that money in the GPU - that's where you'll get the most return on your investment.

2. It's not necessarily true - unless you're running like Adobe CS5, AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, or something else that eats RAM for breakfast do you need the upgrade. On a gaming rig you won't use all 16GB, even hugely demanding games like BF3 and Skyrim won't come close to using the full 8GB.

3. The original motherboard is great - anything from Asus and Gigabyte reigns supreme over most anything else you can get.

4. As for GPU that depends on how much you really want to spend. I could recommend a Sapphire Radeon 7950 or a GTX 680 but those will run you $450+. If you've got the cash for it, by all means. If not the 7870 is the best mid range option right now.

Your amazing man, I'm prob gonna stick with the ram regardless cause as I said its not really all that expensive. I'm just going to invest in one gtx 680 and later if its needed get another. n

The CPU is where I'll take your guys advice and get a cheaper one.
