Hey friends

I'm about to order my new rig and I was wondering if you guys would have a look at the components and let me know if I'm doing anything silly 😀

Mobo: Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
CPU cooler: be quiet! Silent Loop Superior Liquid CPU Cooler - 240mm
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Strix OC Gaming 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit
PSU: Kolink Continuum 1050W 80 Plus Platinum Modular Power Supply

Please let me know what you think! Thanks in advance :)

Given the extra cores, it makes more sense to get into a Z370 motherboard/8700K combo after it's better supplied.

1050W is way overkill. You'd never come close to even stressing a 650W power supply. Something like an EVGA G3/SeaSonic Focus makes more sense.

I think you should give us a budget and location so we can likely get you a better system for the money. 1050w is mass overkill for a even dual 1070s and performance wise that unit isn't all that good, you can likely find a smaller better performing psu for the same price or less.,

Actually seems to be respectable; Kolink actually dragged a halfway-decent platform out of the extremely inconsistent Sirfa. Not that I'd advocate for it for this build, of course, as it's overkill and there are better platforms, but it's nice to see Case King/Kolink actually trying.

I did read the jonnyguru review and the performance wasn't bad by any means but not all that good compared to other units available in the category and price point. In the UK they cost around ~£200. For that price you can get a 1000w Seasonic Prime Platinum which is a better performing unit. For ~£160 you can get a 850w Seasonic Prime Titanium, and the Prime Titanium series are one of absolute best available.

Awesome guys, thanks for your answers!

So I've looked into the i7 8700k and I have to say that I like what I see! It's not too much of a price hike either, so I think I'll go with the new i7. I'll also drop down to a lower PSU xD

Regarding my location and budget, I'm in London and my budget is £2100 for the tower alone (i.e. not including MS office or speakers/monitors etc). I'd like the system to have a SoundBlaster Zx to satisfy my sound requirements as well.

Do you guys think there is any reason to go above 16GB of RAM?

Assuming the use is gaming 16Gb is currently plenty.
