I need to reformat my pc and reinstall my OS because i just changed mobo and processor from amd to intel, and in the instructions i have to put my OS installer in, then restart my pc so that it boots up the installer again, problem is, it seems as though my disk reader isn't reading my installer, before I restart my pc i check my computer and my installer isnt on there, when I restart my pc, it just restarts the normal way :/ help me please

Solution
Ignore the problem of Windows not reading the disc, concentrate instead on achieving a fresh Windows install since that's your goal. No point worrying about disc recognition problems in your existing Windows.

Double-check that the optical drive is the first boot device in the BIOS, though it's preferable to use the foolproof boot device menu instead as I explained earlier as that avoids the need to mess with the BIOS settings which require you to "save and exit" otherwise any changes are not saved.

If you use the boot device menu there is no requirement to save changes because that menu is simply a "one time" boot option.

You can also install Windows from a pen drive instead of optical disc, but I can't help you with that as I've...
In order to make your PC boot from the Windows install disc when an OS is already installed, you need to bring up the one-time boot device menu and select the optical drive or USB (whichever you are going to use for the install).

To bring up the boot device menu you usually have to press either F11 or F12 at boot time (ie at the motherboard splash screen).

Alternatively, set the optical drive as the first boot device in the BIOS configuration.

so is it normal that when i put the disc in, when i check my computer it doesnt show anything in the disc drive?

and i think i already set the optical drive as priority upon bootup, and still nothing happened :/ not sure if i did it right though

You mean Windows isn't showing anything in the optical drive?

Well it should do. Optical drive may be busted if it's showing no disc inside it, but there are several reasons why Windows doesn't acknowledge discs in optical drive. Could be Windows-related (eg registry entries).

i tried putting in other installers, and my disc driver did detect them, so i really don't know what's going on 🙁 is there any other way i can reinstall my os and format my hdd without having to use the disc installer?
