My PC shuts down and restarts after opening games.

So my pc shuts shuts down after just opening a game. It flickers like an old TV from the 70's, and boom, restart. My volt is on 11.47. That is just horrible, and guaranteed a part of the problem. But i thought changing the PSU would work. It did not. Now I'm thinking maybe there is something wrong with my memory. Or maybe a Windows reinstall would do the trick.

As you can see in the picture above^.

I can still watch movies, be on the internet, and basically do everything, EXCEPT play games. Which really sucks for me.

Here you can see my errors and such. Around the 17:07 mark is the unexpected reboot.
Maybe there is something there, I don't know.

Please help, I am in dire straits right now! Ask away, and I'll try to answer.

Windows 7 64bit
MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming 2GB GDDR5
AMD FX-8350 8-Core Processor
Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Elite 1866Mhz 16GB
Corsair CX650M, 650W PSU
Hitachi HDS7210 Harddrive
and a brand new Kingston UV400 SSD

I personally do not trust the 12v measurements via software, I have seen them quite wrong before (used a digital multimeter to get a proper readout) When this happens does itr automatically reboot? or is there a blue screen.
What was the old PSU (assuming new is CX650m).
What does the BIOS say for the 12v rails?

Yeah, i've heard that before.
It just restarts, no bluescreen.
The old one was a Cooler Master G600

As i had absolutely no problem before this, I'm very sure that this is not the problem. The old one was a Cooler Master G600, and even worse than i have now...

If he was having this problem, dropped in a new PSU, and still has the problem, unless he bought a junk ultra low watt PSU, its not the problem. Continually posting links to the Tier list which hasn't been updated in a while is not a helpful solution.

OP can you check out Windows Event Viewer for us? Sometimes it shows the cause of crashes.

The MB is Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 (AM3R2)
This is a 3 day old problem, never had this before that.
What is this memtest86? I've tried doing a Memory diagnostic, but i wasn't allowed, i had to use a windows 7 disc to activate it...

However I bet the problem may be your motherboard. That board cannot handle an FX-8350. Most likely the VRMs are overheating when trying to game and the system is rebooting. It may have a lasted for a while but has since deteriorated. Have you changed anything about the cooling of the system? What CPU cooler do you have?

So heres the deal with that.

The stock cooler is downdraft style, which blows air over the VRMs around he processor keeping them cool. Its just about the only way that processor will work with that motherboard.

Using a liquid cooler now means there is no airflow over them, that board has a weak 4+1 setup (you want at least a 6+2 for an 8350) so it was only a matter of time before it started to fail.

You have a few options:
1. You can try placing a fan blowing right over the processor and vrms
2. You can try putting the stock cooler back on.
3. Buy a new motherboard (the best option IMO)

If you are overclocking you absolutely need to disable that, that may fix your issue as well.

Huh, I've been contemplating changing it for a couple months, I guess i have to now.
I don't have any space on the motherboard for one more fan, I have two i want to mount on it, but it doesn't have the pins for it.
No overclocking, I have no idea how to do it...
Putting the old cooler on is an absolute no go, the noise level was staggering.

This is costing so much more than i wanted it to.

It's more like 45 dollars. And that's a lot for a student.

Ah ok sorry about that. If you can you should return that liquid cooler and buy a quieter and cheaper air cooler. That will give you more money towards a motherboard. The liquid cooler isn't helping you at all, especially that youre not overclocking.

This is really the only way to get around your problem.

Hehe, no problem. I guess I'll have to ask my parents, shouldn't have to do that when you're 19, but, what can you do...
I need this pc in my life, without it I'm hopeless in this world. That sounded really bad.
