my PC Shuts off automatically after playing 1080p videos.

i have a old PC with x55 3.0 ghhz dual core processor and onboard graphihcs i.e ATI 4200
2gb ram, 1 tb hdd.
computer runs fine for half an hour or so but after i start watching 1080p videos on youtube or on my computer through hdd cpu fan starts to run fast and suddenly it shuts.
maybe the computer is not able to take the load for 1080p video.
can installing a nvidia g210 gpu solve the problem?
i only use my PC for 1080p playback and downloading.

You need to clean the fans and apply thermal paste on the CPU.It is most likely overheating.

you need to open up the case, remove as much dust as possible from the entire case but particularly from the CPU heatsink/fan and the graphics card.
