I apologize deeply for the long read, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible. I was in the middle of playing a game on my PC, when all of a sudden my screen went black and the light for the front Case fan went out. My other case fan that is connected via USB (thanks to an adapter) and other USB devices connected to the mobo were running just fine though. So I switched off the psu. I started smelling this strange almost burning smell and opened up my system and found nothing to be burnt or loose, but the mobo and radiator for my cooler were running hot (too hot to keep my hand on it) Now when I switch the psu back on and attempt to start the PC, it will give a quick flash of the case fan (that's connected to the mobo) and then just not turn on. Also note that the computer has been on for a good 6 hours mostly playing games. Please help. I have one more month to return anything and I would like to know what I should return. Thank you very much.

My build is:

Amd FX 8350 (stock speed)
MSI 970A Krait edition mobo
Msi gtx 960 oc edition
Evga 600W 80+ bronze Non modular psu
Corsair h55 silent edition liquid cooler

Update: I can confirm that any USB powered devices still work, but I now fear that my other parts might've gotten messed up

With the overheating issue it may be quite a few things, video card, motherboard, CPU most likely. Maybe power supply, that can smell bad when failed. You need to start testing one part a time to see what works and what does not, swap them into a known working system and/or known good parts into yours.
