So I literally just built this pc yesterday and I had gotten it booted up and installed windows. I had downloaded some games and made sure everything worked. But later in the day I wanted to figure out how to control the leds on my fans, so I had plugged one of the cables that you plug into the system fan slot to control speed and voltage into a 12v led strip slot in hopes of being able to control since I had downloaded a software that could control it.

When I tried to boot up my pc it wouldn’t turn on. I had put everything back the way it was before but it still didn’t turn on. So I had unplugged everything except the fans(I do this to see if the psu works) and plugged in my inspection tool that came with the psu. The inspection tool is basically a plastic slot that you plug the 24 pin cable into to see the the psu turn on. My power supply had turned on and so did the fans so I knew it wasn’t the power supply. So I had plugged everything back in but still didn’t even turn on, it didn’t even get the little red light on the motherboard to see if it was getting power.

So I had left everything plugged in except the 24 pin cable and used the inspection tool. Well lo and behold the fans, graphics card, and psu came on, I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the motherboard but I’m not sure.

Here’s my list of parts, my friend is letting me borrow an old gpu until I can get one https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2YxVHz. PLEASE HELP.

It sounds like this is what fried your motherboard. You typically plug a fan into a fan slot and an LED strip into the LED strip slot.

What exactly did you plug in and where?
