Question My PC won't boot up properly if i change my RAM speeds to e.g 2800 or higher ?

So recently i bought Corsair Vengance Pro 32GB (2X16) ram, i have 2 slots and i have been wanting to use the ram speeds that i can, as the max would be 3600 but i won't go near that.

However, my motherboard only supports up to 3200 so i thought oh it would be fine near there but it either doesn't load or when it does I load up a game and it will use 100% CPU and shutdown. Now I'm assuming it's due to how I haven't upgraded the motherboard because my CPU is a Ryzen 7 5700x, so i don't see the cpu being the problem here tbh.

However, my motherboard is https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M-HDV R4.0/ (for the accurate link cause sometimes it finds something different if you search it up) but when i looked into it all it says is supported speeds so, like said i assume its my motherboard but i still need help finding out if it is or not.

if you need more info let me know.

The chipset will only allow you to go to DDR4-3200MHz in spite of your processor's integrated memory controller being capable of going to DDR4-3600MHz. You would need to jump to a B550 chipsetted motherboard in order to take advantage of DDR4-3600MHz speeds.

Yeah but what i mean is that i cant even get to 3000 before it crashes, so i couldnt even use some of my MHz speeds if i wished too which is where im confused as the chipset i have as of now should be able to suppport it

In addition to the comments the others have made, you need to be aware that not all memory will run at rated speeds in all systems. Just too many variables to ensure it will work 100% of the time.

What is the exact and full model number of the memory you are trying to use? Are you using XMP/DOCP in the BIOS to apply memory profiles or are you trying to manually set the speed settings of the memory?

So, i have managed to figure out the problem, when changing the ram frequency, i was doing it manually meaning timings and voltage were staying the same, soi i enabled xmp and well it runs at 3200 perfectly fine now

3200mhz is just the officially supported max speed. Ram speed has everything to do with the CPU, hardly motherboard limited.

Assuming you have the newest bios, or very recent I would think 3600mhz is quite possible.

I'm running the same CPU on a Asus Prime B350 Plus motherboard and it's happily running 4 sticks at 3600mhz.
