Hi im 14 and i just built my first pc 6months ago and by built i bought a pre built system and today got a new gpu. Sadly my psu which is a 500w gamemax psu blew up while running my rx 580 8gb. There was smoke, two loud pop noises and then quickly i turned of power. I tried to turn it on again with no success as it is completely dead. Is my gpu dead? i spent 190$ on it and im really scared that i just lost my money as the gpu was hot.
i dont know all my specs but:
An Asrock Motherboard
ryzen 5 2400g
amd rx 580 8gb
8gb ddr4 2400mhz ram (team vulcan)
1TB HD
N my now fried 500w psu
please anyone help

Hi thanks for everyones help i bought a brand new corasair 550w 80plus silver rating from scorptec and my gpu is loving it. It is hard to do cable management on it as the sleeved cables make it rlly not wanna budge so i just cba lol all i care about is how my games look not my pc.

Once again thanks

Still not even sure what he got since there's no Corsair VS that's rated Silver, as far as I know. If he got a VS, it's too bad that he listened to poor advice.

They sell nothing Corsair that is Silver rated:

So I don't know what he bought but it was probably unfortunately the VS.

RamiHerb I'm glad your system is working but in the future check out the stats on the left of the post of the person you are talking to, the first number is how many posts they have, and the last number is how many best answers they have. If the first number is 2 and the last 0, they just got here and haven't posted a single acknowledged correct answer, doesn't mean they don't know anything, but I'd get a second opinion, just in case they don't (and in this case, they don't).

If he did, that's extremely unfortunate but at least he bought it new so if it fails on him he's covered by warranty... right?
When it comes to the one component that can destroy the whole rest of your system on its own if it fails catastrophically I'd rather not rely on "at least it has a warranty". 🤷‍♂️

I was holding out hope that he accidentally bought a Corsair Vengeance. But alas and alack!
