my ram is 8 GB but why my PC only detect 512 mb?

my ram is 8 GB but why my PC only detect 512 mb? and when i open my computer properties it says 8.00gb (3.48 usable) Is that mean i can only use 3.48 gb?
my PC spec:
AMD A6-3650 APU
Radeon HD6530D
8 GB RAM
500 GB HDD

do you have 32bit windows? if so upgrade to 64bit
