does it work otherwise?

do you have RAID mode on in bios?

is the only problem it won't work with magician?

might be a bug with newest version of software. i only show this as its been used here elsewhere, i don't normally like 3rd party sites - https://www.filehorse.com/download-samsung-magician/old-versions/
I can use it as simple storage but i want to put windows on it, so i tried samsung data migration but it wouldnt show up there either.
So i installed windows 10 on it and tried booting it but it wouldnt show as a boot drive unless i had csm support on, so i booted it with that but i just get the black screen

ahh, i thought it was just magician that wouldn't work.

tried booting a fresh windows install on it also using csm support but i just get a black screen with the typing symbol, its on achi mode and its also been formatted as a gpt, also its in my PCIe 4.0 slot

so what happens if you try to install in UEFI boot?
AHCI doesn't apply to NVME

what motherboard do you have?

are you using boot override to boot the USB?

it might not make any difference

whats boot order? usb doesn't need to be in it, shouldn't really have anything in it yet since nvme is blank

on the save & exit screen of bios is a choice
Boot override
if you pick USB from here pc should restart and boot off the USB
(I have an Aorus X570, it has similar bios choices)

you shouldn't just get a black screen booting off the USB. NVME is blank (i assume) so it won't boot off it yet.

sure installer is okay?
