[SOLVED] my sisters macbook wont fully turn on

she is in collage right now so i cant see the computer. basically when she turns it on she sees the mac symbol in the middle of the screen or a cancel sign. either way it seems to freeze right there. any help or tips would be great thanks

"Command-Option-P-R" held simultaneously while booting should get you into recovery mode, where you could check the disk etc..
