Question My SSD storage seems to be missing 100GB space that I should have ?

My SSD storage in C drive is 238GB. (I bought a 256GB SSD but just like external drives written 2TB is actually 1.81TB, it's not exactly 256GB. And even if it does eat up space by it, it should not take 100GB which is like almost half of the entire space.)

But when I grab the entire folder that is inside SSD C drive, it only is total worth 140GB.
(Grabbed Program Files, Program Files (x86), Temp, Users, Windows, and every other folders I see.)

So am I missing 100GB worth of space ?

Best thing you can do is post a pic of what you see in Disk Management, showing details of this SSD.

I'm guessing you have a bunch of unallocated space.

How did C get onto this drive?? A clean install? A clone? An image restoration?

No, SSDs has some spare sapce for storage cells which go bad or some SLC space for caching and increased write speed. Every SSD has this, some spare space which cannot be accesed.

I don't see anything unusual in that picture.

I see a 238 GB C partition with about 169 GB used and 69 unused.

What do you see?

When I grabbed the entire folders in C drive it was 140GB.
238 - 140 = 98

So I'm missing 30GB. Not 100GB. Before it wasn't like this though. Strange.

30GB is just invisible system files ?

144GB after grabbing the entire C drive while viewing the HIDDEN folders.

You cannot rely on File Explorer to give a true representation of available space.

Use TreeSize software with admin priveleages

The most common cause is hiberfil.sys

That is the hibernation cache for putting the system to sleep / hybrid sleep (AKA shutdown)

Usually matches or doubles your current system memory amount. The OS reserves it so that the option to shutdown or sleep will work seamlessly.
