My issue is that when I right-click to get the menu, the menu that comes up is of a abnormally large size for that resolution. It also affects the text labels on my icons.

The size of the icon image hasn't changed. Neither has the size of the taskbar/start menu.

I am using 8.1.

1. NO, it is not a different resolution!

2. Yes, I have tried changing the icon sizes.

3. I have tried the ClearType text, to no avail.

Thank you in advance!

Nah, tried that.

I have now noticed that the computer has a malware by the name of Start Menu (by Pokki).

I have uninstalled this, but the issue still remains. I would say that this thing is the cause, but I don't know what to do about it, there are still some Pokki files in the Local folder though...

I am not seeing what you are seeing I guess because it looks normal to me. But do check your display scale to see it if reset to higher then 100%. You can get to the display settings in Settings, System, Display. (disregard the previous as it applies to Windows 10)

You might consider upgrading to Windows 10 however as it does a much better job scaling the display to larger monitors and different size displays.
