My Toshiba Laptop connects to my tv for a few seconds then shuts back off

Hello everyone,
I got a Toshiba Satellite P5-A and for some reason it will only connect to my RCA Tv(non-smart) through HDMI for like 1-2 seconds then loses the signal. the HDMI cord works fine with my Android box but dont seem to work with my Laptop for some odd reason. I already have installed the latest graphics drivers but the problem still remains unsolved.. can someone help me out here? Anyone else run into this problem?

oh btw i recently updated to windows 8.1 but dont think that effected it in anyway

Hello my laptop dont seem to wanna stay connected to this new tv i got. it connects for 1-2 seconds and then disconnects. i got a toshiba satellite P50-A and A RCA TV(not a smart tv). the hdmi cable seems to work fine when i use it on my android box.. but it just dont work for my laptop for some odd reason. could someone please help?

PS: I did update my graphics drivers and also updated to windows 8.1 recently if that has anything to do with it.
