my turn has come to ask for advice on building a box and any specs that need to be changed

these are the current specs and it is liable to change but i think it should be alright, just needing a bit of tweeking

AMD thunderbird 1000mhz (maybe o/c'd)
ASUS/ABIT mobo, not quite sure which model, prefferably one with raid 0 support
2 IBM 7200rpm ATA100 hdds 30.7 gig
GeForce2 Ultra
256 megs of ram (what fsb is tb1000?)
21" sony fd trinitron
Sound blaster platinum 5.1 and speakers

everything sounds pretty damn good, i wish i had the funds for that.....as far as the fsb question, it is a 100mhz fsb that is ddr so it is effectively 200mhz. however, the kt133 boards (which you are getting) can run the ram bus separately. so, without overclocking you would set the fsb to 100mhz and the ram to fsb+33mhz which would run the ram at 133mhz (obviously you need pc133 to do this)

Aren't there now some TBirds that run at 133 instead of 100?

there are 133mhz fsb t-birds but they are not widely available and they use the new ddr motherboard
