Hi guys i've been having problems lately that my anger is about to burst. Last time i tried plugging my empty 128 GB USB into the Tv Port and it worked which got me elated. So i went and downloaded some movies all amounting to 30gb in total. But now i tried plugging it back into the port to play it and now my TV cannot detect the USB because nothing happens. I tried plugging another of my USB which is 8Gb that has movies amounting to 4gb and no problem at all to detect and play. What could be the problem?

Hi there Thomas3559,

Is the drive recognized by your computer and how? In case it is not recognized by My Computer, you can go to Disk Management and see how it appears over there. It's partition and/or file system could be damaged.

What is the file format of both flash drives? You can check that out when you go to Disk Management. Make sure that this file format is supported by the TV.

Cheers,

He copied movies to the drive so clearly its working....
Its most likely a formatting issue or something like hes trying to use a 128GB USB flash drive on a TV that doesn't support exFAT.

Hi my Tv supports exFAT and FAT32 so there should not be a problem. And furthermore i was able to read the usb once until the movies were downloaded. Could it be a storage limit issue?

What format is your Flash drive?
Have you Googled the TV specs to ensure it supports 128GB drives?

Hi its all working i've checked its properties and everything. Not a problem. Other options perhaps?

The TV model will be printed on a label on the rear of the TV along with its Manufacturing info and input power rating.

Hi i've found my tv model and thus looked it up. It says that it supports 28 different video formats including mp4 which is what my video format are in.

Automatic video regulator:
110-240v 50/60Hz

Does it actually state 128Gb flash drive compatibility?

Hi it says nothing about 128 gb compatibilty or the size of flash drives that it is compatible. The only media player specifications is that
USB device Interface Version: USB2.0 HS

File System: FAT 16 and FAT 32

Quote: "File System: FAT16 and FAT32" - This was my original question. FAT32 has a max storage limitation of 32GB and a single file can not exceed 4GB in total size. Your Flash drive is currently exFAT and is unsupported by your model of television.

Oh? But it actually managed to read my USB at first. Do you have any idea why is it at first?

Not sure, sounds strange. Did you change the drives format at any point? When you say it read the USB at first, what did it read exactly? what data was on the USB and what showed up?

Nop no change of format. When i meant it read the USB i meant that it actually detected my USB and showed me the list of folders on the USB. After downloading the movies the Tv cannot detect the USB at all ( no pop up menu )

Not sure man. Get yourself a smaller storage sized flash drive and format it to FAT32 if it isn't already.

Well that's the thing.

It maybe able to recognize an empty folder but not if you have any actual files in it.

TV-based USB stuff have all kind of limitations, they are really there to wet your whistle but not a serious long term media library. Is read-only for one, and how often u need to update it.

Hmm why is this so?

LOL.

I used to have a tagline that says, "Solution - FREE; Explanation, I will have to charge you."

Many of us here are hobbyists as you are, a few, you get lucky we actually got trained working on these things. We can almost always give you a few potential solutions just by experience and not necessarily because we have a Microsoft Certification.

Sorry bud, my technical expertise in this matter is not enough to give you an explanation, only that by experience, I am not surprised what it's doing to you. That's all you get in a free forum.

Hmm do you have any solution perhaps for this?
