My windows key isn't working...

My windows key is a retail version. That means I can install it on more than one device. Apparently I can only install it into 1 device. Anyone know why?

Retail keys can only be installed on 1 device at a time. 1 license 1 system.
The difference between OEM and Retail was retail keys could be moved to a new system(as long as it was no longer used on the old system) and OEMs were tied to the system(motherboard) they were originally installed on.
