My Wired Connection Speeds are slower than my wifi. I need help.

Okay so I was running a speed test on my pc connected through a standard Ethernet cable, that is plugged into my router and It told me that I am getting speeds of 2.5 mbps download (Give or take), we are provisioned for 26 mbps download. When I run a test wirelessly on my phone I get around 22mps.

The setup is a modem (Arris) provided by my ISP which connects to my router (Cisco Linksys E2500). I connected directly to the modem and I received a speed of 3 mbps download. I've tried power cycling the modem and the router but the speeds are still not good. Currently I am the only device using the internet so i'm out of options. is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

What revision ethernet cable are you using? (ex: cat 5)

I'm using a standard cat5 cable. should I get another cat 5 cable or test other cables (Cat5E??

Hmmm.. You should probably be fine with a cat5 cable, this could be a problem with a faulty ethernet port on your router/modem or mobo?

Try plugging it into a different port on your router
