My wireless receiver worked fine, till I unplugged it the other day and then my windows 10 has an update. Now when ever I hook it up and sync it, it shows up as headset in the device manager.

It worked fine but now no matter what I install or uninstall this keeps happening.

I even try to update the driver on my receiver and it shows up as USB audio device.

I went to https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-wireless-controller-for-windows and downloaded the win7 (it was the only one they had that was close to my OS)

I am getting so frustrated and have no idea why this started..please help!

Disable automatic device driver updates and then uninstall your controller from Device Manger. It's, at this point, advised to reinstall your controller's drivers using that found off Microsoft's support site but under compatibility mode:
Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows 7 [from drop down menu]

The reasoning behind disabling automatic device driver updates feature is due to the fact that windows updates can and will provide a mish mash of drivers for the device which aren't appropriate. Can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your connected peripherals?
