Hi guys,

I have a very strange case of fps drop. Basically when I play WoW with mid-high settings I have around 100FPS and it stays that way for like 2-3minutes and without doing anything that could exhaust system resources the game suddenly minimizes, lags for a bit, then maximizes again and the FPS fall down to 20~. Restarting the game does not help after that, all other games become low fps as well and overall the fps does not come back until I restart the computer. It doesn't seem to be triggered as far as I've noticed so far by any other game, but affects every games fps once triggered. I have no clue what the heck.. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Specs:

MB: MSI Z170-A PRO(MS-7971)
CPU: i5-6600K
8GB RAM
GPU: GeForce GTX 960 2GB

I had oc'ed it, but just barely as I'm not knowledgeable enough to risk it. I've done the second part, set it to max perfomance and well.. it's official I am an idiot. Issue resolved. I've done that for individual games not as "default" option for all aplications.. I'll give you guys a shout out once I need helping to find start button, seems I'm going down that road.. haha

Thanks for the help!

Dropping to low power state is a symptom of a bad overclock on the gpu, so revert to settings.

What settings were you using?

And the problem is back again, it just didn't appear for a little while. The OC settings I've edited were memory and core clocks +200MHz. I did use hardware monitor during the last trigger maybe it is thermal? the CPU is reaching quite high temps. Hardware monitor screenshots here

PS how do I mark the subject as unsolved? ^^
