Hello everyone.

I'm planning on building a new i7 based computer with my savings. These are the components I have thought about so far:

■Intel i7 920, Socket 1366, Nehalem, 2.66GHz, Cache 8MB
■Asus P6T Deluxe V2, Intel X58, SLi/Xfire, Sok 1366, PCI-E 2.0, DDR3 1066/1333/1600(OC), SATAII, ATX
■896MB XFX GTX 260 Black, 2300MHz GDDR3, GPU 666MHz, 216 Cores, 2xDL DVI-I
■Antec 900 - Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case with 200m Top Fan w/o PSU

Is that a good start?

Also, what speed (Mhz) RAM would I need? I'm planning on getting 6GB if that makes any difference.

Furthermore, can anyone suggest a PSU for me? I have no idea how much power I need and what qualifies as a good PSU brand.

If anyone can suggest any improvements, that would be awesome. My budget is about £900.00 GBP which equates to around $1,298.17 USD.

Cheers guys.

Get the Corsair 850W. It is on a great special on Newegg and is one of the best PSUs on the market currently.

G.Skill is a solid brand. On my i7 build (very smilar to yours), I'm going for OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Other than that you seem pretty solid.

Thanks for the suggestions and help. Unfortunately however, I live in the UK and therefore can not take advantage of that 'Combo Deal' on Newegg.

Ah okay, np.

Just go for the Corsair PSU and OCZ Memory. if you can get a steal on either the 750 or 850W versions, go for whichever works out. the 850 though is normally found very close in price to the 750 and will give you a little more futureproofing if you decide to add on an additional HDD or SLI card in the future
