The i7-4790k is extremely powerful. So is the i5-4690k. What essentially differentiates them is hyper-treading and the size of the CPU's cache. For gaming you will not be able to differentiate the two CPU's, and the i5 is a lot cheaper - and it does not drop in gaming performance!

For the board the Z97-A provides really awesome OC abilities and a very solid UEFI. Though the Hero is also a very nice board, though a bit more expensive.

As for RAM 16GB is unnecessary. 8GB of good RAM is sufficient for gaming - you can always upgrade in the future remember.

As for GPU there are two options: Either one 980 STRIX or two 970 STRIX in SLI. I would probably opt for one 980, but two 970 is extremely powerful as well. I let you decide.

As for storage an SSD is nessesary and then a normal HHD for normal storage. Run your OS and games on SSD, everything else on HHD.

Last but not least, I've chosen a very powerful PSU of good quality. It will power your SLI setup, or of course one 980.

Hope it helps.

+1 for his answer. Pretty much exactly what I'd recommend, for the same reasons.

The only time I'd consider an i7 is if you plan to Crossfire or SLI.

970 is the sweet spot for price/performance right now.

I really like the setup, considering that i live in the middle east, it might be 100-200$ extra, ill get the setup that you listed, the only things im going to change is the motherboard, or if you could suggest another as well as the cpu cooler, im going to stick with the Kraken x61. And any other suggestions for the monitor?
(I only can use amazon because it ships to my country, Bahrain)

Might be a late reply, but i don't think thats going to be the whole price, considering the monitor and the shipping to my country, i've had to reduce one gpu and the ssd, i thought 1000w was too much so i took the evga 850w gold G2 psu as it will handle sli in the future. As of the motherboard i chose the Asus z97 Pro gamer edition, cheaper than the z97 a and has a much better sound quality. I'd rather go with the Kraken x61 because it fits perfectly in the case that you suggested/ im getting and the memory, i went with a future proof corsair dominance 2x4gb ram 2400MHZ ram for 90$ (worth the 20$) any extra suggestions would be great.

Well, price always is relative upon the location and any given sale at the given time of purchase. Well, yes the 1000W is a bit overkill but I never take changes with PSU's, in my opinion one of the most important components. If it is bad quality, chances are it will die sooner rather than later, and even fry some of the expensive components before its death.

However, I own the G2 myself and it is an awesome PSU - good quality and sufficient for single or indeed double GPU. I am not aware that the Z97 Pro Gamer has that much superior sound quality, I'll write the difference in the end of my post, at least whatever knowledge I have. Having said that, the Z97 Pro Gamer is an excellent choice!

All in all I think you've made some fine adjustments yourself as it fits your budget and still is great gaming rig.
I hope you'll get many years of fantastic use, and of course have a great day!

Well, the SupremeFX 2014 does seem superior, but perhaps not by that much. Anyways, I think you made a great choice.
