I'm starting a new build. I found out about the Fractal Design Define R4. I had not heard of it previously. It seems pretty nice for what I'm looking for.

I had pretty much settled on it, but then I found out about the R5 haha. Seems like the upgrades are nice.

If the price was normal, the R5 would be a no brainer, but Newegg has the R4 for $70 and the R5 for $110. Not sure if the upgrades on the R5 are worth $40.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

It does appear to be a great case, do you think upgrades on the R5 would be worth the extra $40?

I would buy the R4 and keep the savings or spend it on upgrading something else.

What fan setup do you think would be sufficient? Two 140s in the front, 1 in the back? i'll also have a Noctua NH-D15s with two fans on it. Plan on just having one video card for now, possible crossfire/sli later.

I have the R5 and a Noctua D15. I wanted an extra case fan, but really didn't need one with my i5 6600K OC to 4.6 and GTX 960.

I moved both Fractal fans to the front (for appearance) and relocated the front Noctua cooler fan to be a rear case fan. I'm only using the middle D15 fan, but I don't require the maximum cooling.

Just like I said in the first post remove the center drive cage and add another 140mm in the front of the case the FD fans are good no reason not to just add another of theirs.

Thanks for all of the replies.

One feature on the R5 that I really like is the mounting of SSDs on the back with the bracket so you don't have to remove the mobo. Is there a workaround to make that happen on the R4?

The reviews I read/watched on the R4 said you had to screw in the SSDs from the side where the motherboard sits. It said due to that removing those SSDs would require the mobo to be removed.
