Built a new system about a month ago and I've been troubleshooting a system lock-up issue from day 1. Re-installed the OS on both my SSD and HDD, replaced RAM, etc. and nothing has worked. Some of the sporadic behavior of late has led me to believe it is possibly a motherboard issue.

The current mobo is an MSI P67 G-45 - I do not want another MSI.

Trying to stay in the $100-$125 range.

i5 2500 (1155)
gtx 560 ti
16 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
60GB OCZ SSD
600GB WD HDD

Thanks guys

I could go out and link some of the boards I think are good....

but it would probably be easier if you went to Newegg.com and under computer components chose

Motherboards
Intel
Socket LGA-1155

And then go down the list and see what is in your budget. Also, read the reviews on there from people who actually have the items, the reviews there are a really good tool.

Then, if you can't make a decision between a couple of boards, post back here with a specific question.

Yeah, I've done that w/ Newegg and I could make a decision on my own if I needed to. This is just an attempt at some positive recommendations in relation to brands and features.

A very common problem is if you use AHCI in the BIOS but Windows is set for IDE. This can do what you described above.

BIOS = AHCI = 0 = Start in Windows; see -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976
Verify Start = 0 in the Registry -> http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af254/Jaquith/AHCI_Start_0.jpg

IF the Start = 3 = IDE and BIOS = AHCI then you know you have a problem.

IF this is the case the make the changes above and run SFC -> http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af254/Jaquith/Scan-Drives-Windows-7.jpg

Wow, very good stuff right there. When I say system lockups, I'm not referring to complete freeze ups that require rebooting. It is more of like a flash lock up type situation. I have to press ctrl+alt+del and cancel to "refresh" if you will. I will try this today, thanks for the input!
