Need a power supply

Hey guys, trying to find a power supply that fits my specifications.
It'd be good if it was budget, say under $250 and also more than 400W.
But what I really would like is a black simple looking PSU that includes black insides, I hate looking at the back of my case to see my current PSU and it's color coded ugliness.
Anything like this exist?
Please help, thanks.

That is a tough one since I do not know of a manufacturer that will paint the wires and/ or all the other components. I am afraid you will have to limit yourself to a black out side.

You could try something like getting a dark dust filter to at least reduce the color without destroying airflow completely. It's also a lot cheaper.

How much time do you spend looking at the back of your case? I mostly look at my monitor.

Well I like to do that too most of the time but the back of the case is still view-able

you could simply take the PSU apart and spray a thin coat of flat black paint on the insides. voids the warranty, but won't affect temps by more than a degree. or simply cover the PSU with a black mesh or your gf's black stocking.

If you go for spray painting, make sure it is unplugged and the caps are discharged first, then let the pain dry before plugging it back in. Personally though, I wouldn't try spray painting it.

here's the crux of the OP's problem:

a PSU that doesn't waste much power at mid/high loads is going to be expensive, so painting it would void the warranty. on the flip side, a PSU that's cheap enough not to worry about warranties will waste a bunch of heat so it needs all the help in can get dissipating it and painting it hinders it. Catch-22.

so, them there black stockings are lookin' good right about now! 😛
