Hey everyone...

the problem i have i assume is CPU related, but im not to sure. But for a couple months now, every Video i watch, either in Windows Media player or any other format, my computer will freeze immediatley. I cannot move my mouse, the audio does not play, and i have to crtl+alt delete and shut down the application to get my computer working again.

now i do not know what to do, i can play some DivX videos for some reason, but outside that, no video will play. MP3's work fine.

if anyone can offer any advice or assistance, i would really appriciate it. thanks!

It could be heat related, but Im not sure. Its impossible to know without further information. Does it freeze when idle, playing games or anything else? Or is it just when you play videos.

nope, my computer does not freeze when playing games or on idle. Jus when i open a saved video in my documents or on the internet, as soon as its done loading, it freezes my computer and does not play at all. Like sometimes its difficult to close the Media player that im using, whether its windows media, real player or quicktime.

wierd thing is that my old graphics card, ge force MX 400, that was installed ran video's no problem, then i upgraded to a Geforce 6600 GTOC AGP 128 MB, and videos haven't played since, except for some Divx files. Then i sent my new geforce 6600 in for repairs and switched back to my old MX 400 card, and videos worked perfect. When i got my 6600 card back like3 weeks ago, and installed it, same problem no videos, besides some Divx files played. So i dont understand the problem

sounds like a driver or codec issue. try uninstalling all you drivers and codecs. reinstall the driver, then slowly reinstall the codec one by one and check to make sure the codec you install didnt cause the freezing.
