Currently I am using a Kyrocera Rise and it has been turning very sluggish as of late. I reset the phone not too long ago and it barely made a difference. So I guess it's time to replace it... So, now I'm looking into phones but I'm not willing to go more then $100. (I paid $30 for the Kyrocera)
The phone I'm looking into now is LG's Volt. 4.4 KitKat, 1.2 GHz quad core processor, Gorilla Glass, and a decent size.
Is there anything bad about this phone I'm not seeing?
and,
Are there any other good options to look into?

Edit= Also, not sure if this is possible to find in a >$100 phone but I was having problems fitting everything on the Phone with only 1 GB internal storage and I believe the Rise had 850 MB of storage so If at all possible that would be one nice thing if at all possible...

and 1 more question...

Does the service provider matter if I do not plan to ever use it as a phone? (I have seen Sprint, VM (though they are pretty much Sprint) and boost) are any of them less friendly to people not giving them money every month?

Other options would be a Moto G (if you can find one cheap enough) or a Moto E. I bought a prepaid phone for T-Mobile (LG Optimus L9) and I can say it does run without a SIM card/ service except for the fact that I had a message that I didn't have a SIM card. If you buy a phone without a contract, you own the phone. However, an explicitly T-Mobile prepaid phone will only work on a T-Mobile prepaid plan or as a wifi only device. As compared to an unlocked phone like this Moto G

An unlocked phone like this will work on any service provider that meets uses UMTS/HSPA+.

That's my understanding of it.

i have an lg volt on boost mobile and like it. for 79.99 it is a strong phone. dropped in a 64 gb sd card and it has plenty of space. i don't think it has a camera flash if that makes any difference to you. i don't take many pics with my phone so this is not an issue for me. the volt has 8gb built in memory so lots of room for apps. it will fill up quick if you don't use an sd card though.

i believe boost does not care if you don't pay but after 90 days i think it is, they will release the phone number. so you will want to have it active one month every 3 months to keep the number. i pay $35 a month for the 1gb plan which is cheap for unlimited minutes/texts. i don't use much data anymore so this is plenty for me. i think $55 gets you 10 gb lte data.

i also run an iphone 6 on boost but needed a second number so bought a cheap phone to use. i don't feel like i got a cheap phone even though it is sitting next to an iphone 6 if that tells you anything.

Okay, I'll look into those. And, I will only be using it for wi-fi anyway. I originally needed the Rise to replace my Broken iPod having apps is just a plus and I'm a loner so I don't call or text anyway. ^^

IDC about the number. Don't really care about using it as a phone anyway...And I don't take photos too much anyway either. ^^ Was just curious if anyone knows if any of their own software is a little more or less friendly.

Currently I have seen the Volt for $60 another phone I was looking at was the ZTE Speed for $40 but I dont know if I trust them as much as LG....it may have a few specs that are a tiny bit better but it is also smaller and overall the only reaon id pay the $20 more is because of the company =/

sorry i missed the part about only using it for wifi.

you can but the phone and not activate it. so basically the company does not even know you have it. they won't care one way or the other. my father got 2 of them from best buy for $70 over christmas and activated them at home. so he just paid for them and left without activating them. he tinkered with it for 3 days before activating it and it had no isues with wifi google store and all that stuff. phone did not care it was not activated and did all it was supposed to anyway :) i assumes this would be true for most any phone you buy. i've used iphones the same way unactivated.

i have seen the volt as low as $40 but that was only one mega sale from radio shack. if you flash the firmware to remove the bloat, it will run well. for only wifi use i would certainly root it and start deleting all the calling/texting stuff since you won't be using it. this will free up a ton of space and ram usage as well. mine is rooted right now so i know it is possible and pretty easy to do.
