Need Advice on a New Custom Build

Mostly, just wanted to get a yay or nay on this system build below? Any weaknesses with the build that you can spot? Is there anything I should change, and anything that screams "no freaking way would I ever do that?" Thank you!! The plan is to overclock to 4.9 GHz on the CPU.

With AMD expecting to announce new cpu's, at CES today, you might want to hold off. What is your budget? Even if AMD wasn't releasing new CPU's, I think you would be better off buying an R7 2700x, and using the savings towards a better GPU.

Thank you!! It's a combination of uses - gaming, graphic design, web development, and some video editing. Probably 35%, 35%, 15%, 15% in terms of use, but it varies depending on the project.

In terms of gaming, I can't go much higher in terms of budget.

Oh wow - thank you for the information! I haven't kept up as of late with these developments, so this is something to think about for my next build.

Unfortunately, I am in need of a new build quickly to get back up and running due to the nature of how quickly my PC died. So bizarre.

Needless to say, I am never going with a Dell again.

Approximately $2,000 - - although I am already going a little higher at $2,300-ish for this build.

If gaming is priority one and you have any desire to get a 4k setup at some point you could trim down to a 2700x, am4 motherboard, and keep the stock cooler (actually good with AMD) and probably get at least an rtx 270 for the same money

At 4k, going premium with intel doesn't make sense as you'll see no performance difference between Intel & AMD at that resolution. What's more important is ensuring your processor will meet the needs of upcoming triple A titile system requirements and the R7 2700x beats out the i7 in multicore performance. This will allow you to save money going AMD to place the majority of your budget where it counts, the RTX 2080 TI. 4k gaming via triple A titles, the 2080 TI is your only choice.

Thank you! I should mention I am running two 144 hz 32" curved Samsung gaming monitors. 4 ms refresh. Not super gaming at 1 ms, if that impacts the build at all.

Ok guys, here's my final build. Had to make a couple adjustments once I got onto Amazon to ensure Saturday delivery for everything. According to PC Part Picker before purchase, should be no major issues with the following. I threw away the 64GB RAM idea and used the money I saved there to get the better video card.

What do you think?

I do need the 32 GB only because I crawl larger websites, and the RAM is needed as storage for the crawls.

I would ditch the sound card. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend anyone buy an RTX 2080ti. $1200+, for a gpu, is just crazy.

Just to clarify, we are talking about 4k gaming right? I cannot recommend anything less than a RTX 2080TI. The graphics card upgrade path for gaming at 4k is going to be frequent enough as it is with how graphically demanding triple A titles are at that resolution. Try overclocking with the stock cooler. I bet you'll reach voltage instability before the thermal limit.

@sgt scream - No not 4K gaming. My apologies for not being 100% clear. Top non-4K settings on 2 32” 144 hz Samsung curved monitors are all I need.
