Question Need advice on gaming PC for my 13yr old son

My 13 Yr old son wants a gaming PC, but I am not into these things. What should you look for in a gaming PC. I don't want to buy one only to having to upgrade in 12 months time. He would also use it to edit videos for his YouTube account & would like to play call of duty type games. Don't want to spend a fortune either. Looking on line they push specs and things that to the non PC guy makes no sense. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What do you consider a fortune?
State a budget you can spend on a PC otherwise you are going to get really wild suggestions.

That may be the only way to get a reasonable GPU at the moment.

Your budget is reasonable.
Ask Son what components he thinks he wants.
Over time, updating the graphics card is a common thing to do.
Unfortunately, pre-built gaming pc's are not built to ever be updated.
If you have a pc shop you trust, they may be able to assemble something suitable.
If Son is sufficiently competent, have him build it himself.

Would swap to a 7600, cut the air cooler for stock to save about £50 and up the GPU, potentially look on the used market

Get them on some retro games from the 90's. Like what was being done in DOS and macs. Wolfenstien 3D, Patriot command. Spectre 3D, Asteriods. Just to name a few.

At least this you can justify a super cheap laptop until they earn it or know what they wanna play. 😛
