Hey everyone,

I'm considering upgrading my last years build with a GTX 970. (Who wouldn't?)
I'm currently playing on a 720p screen and I have been waiting for a more powerful card to play everything maxed out on 1080p screen.
I would like your expert opinion on the capabilities of my PSU. Will it be enough?

This is my current build:
Mobo: ASRock B85M
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX 3 Evo
cpu: Intel Core i5 4570
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB : 2 x 4 GB - DIMM 240-pins - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL9 - 1.5 V
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 - Solid state drive - 120 GB - intern
Storage: 1TB HDD (Don't have the exact information here)
GPU: MSI R9 270x Gaming 2G
PSU: Be quiet! System Power 7 500W - ATX12V 2.31 - 80 PLUS Silver - 100-240 Volt - 500 Watt

What do you think?

Thanks!
- Jan

Solution
Yeah the 970 would be even less stress on your psu as the 270X is 180W TDP and the 970 is only 165 due to the maxwell's superb efficiency. So your psu is fine

Edit: Let me correct myself, the 980 is 165W the 970 is 145W

the 970 would be pushing it less than the 270X is. the OP is actually helping themselves.

Not planning on overclocking.
