Question Need advice on upgrading SSD.

Hey, I currently have the ASUS P9X79 and running my OS on Samsung 840 EVO 250G. My question is whether it is worth uppgrading the SSD to the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB, im not even sure that my MoBo supports it..

Ok, but would a m.2 adapter work, and then bios mod so that i can boot from that drive?

Maybe, if the mod'ed bios is legit , for your exact board, and doesn't corrupt during the installation, bricking your motherboard. Then you need to hope that the mod'er, which is not the manufacturer of your motherboard, didn't just have you install a completely undetectable (because it's in the bios) virus or back door.

I would mod the bios yourself and then load it. On those boards it isn't too bad a job at all.

What do you use this system for?
Very few use cases on a board that old would benefit with changing from an 840 EVO to a 970 EVO.
