Need advice on what to upgrade on my PC

Looking to upgrade my gaming PC, my specs are:

Intel i7-870
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram
Intel H57 Express Chipset
PALIT GTX 1050 Storm`x 2GB DDR5
Aerocool Integrator 700W 80+

I am clueless when it comes to PC stuff so any advice on where I should upgrade would be great and any recommendations on parts etc too would help a lot! Thank you in advance.

not looking to spend hundreds and hundreds, just enough to improve my PC so it can run smoothly.

What should I upgrade the i7 to and what about the motherboard?

If your pc is missing SSD, then start with that.
Then you may consider upgrading ram to 16GB.
If you want to improve gaming performance, then consider getting a better graphics card.

The only thing cpu wise you could do is get a i7 880 which will bump you from a 2.93Ghz to 3.07Ghz but that wont help you out at all. A SSD will help with boot load times but wont help with gaming.

If you're playing games at 1080P then a 1060 6GB will do but i have a feeling your i7 870 will start to hold you back. The i7 870 was released back in Q3-2009 so you're looking at a 8-9 year old CPU.
