If you've seen any of my other threads, im having some hardware issues with my motherboard (the network hardware seems to have failed). Anyhow, I was going to replace just the mobo, but my CPU is socket 1155 and finding a motherboard I want is just not really a possibility now.
So I was considering just getting a new motherboard / cpu. A store clerk was talking me into the i7 4790k and a Gigabyte Gaming 7 mobo (which is fine).
I have an i7 3790k, and I have no problems with it, it runs everything I do just fine. And since Broadwell/Skylake is around the corner, does it make sense to upgrade now? And will there be much of a difference if I did upgrade to one or the other? The computer is used 90% for gaming, I already have a GTX 970, 16gb ram, and an SSD. Is a new processor going to really help at all?
Thanks
