Hello.
This is my current configuration :
Motherboard : ASUSTek P7P55 LX (1156)
CPU : i3 530
GPU : Radeon HD 5700 series
PSU : 500W

I want to upgrade for :
GPU : RADEON R9 280X
CPU : i7-870

Is it a correct combinaison ?
should i change something in the Bios ?

I think i need a new PSU. A 750W.
Any PSU recommandation for this desired configuration ?

Run cpu-Z.
It will tell you what your current bios level is.
You will need level 0304 for a I7-870:

Yes, at least a 650w psu:

A quality psu is a long term investment. You are smart to look at 750w.
Even 850w is not wrong, a PSU will only use the power demanded of it regardless of the max capability.

The key is to buy a QUALITY PSU.
Yes, that will be more expensive.
Look for a unit with a 7 year warranty or more.
Seasonic focus or Corsair rmx are good units to start with.

DO NOT buy a cheap psu.
A cheap PSU will be made of substandard components. It may not have all safety and overload protections.
The danger is if it fails under load, it can destroy anything it is connected to.
It will deliver advertised power only at room temperatures, not at higher temperatures found when installed in a case.
The wattage will be delivered on the 3 and 5v rails, not on the 12v rails where modern parts
like the CPU and Graphics cards need it. What power is delivered may fluctuate and cause instability;
issues that are hard to diagnose.
The fan will need to spin up higher to cool it, making it noisy.
A cheap PSU can become very expensive.

Do not buy one.

Thank you for your reply.
I didn't notice that i have to do a bios update. Thank for the tip. I am looking for information on how to do it.
My actual version is 1002.

No cheap PSU. Ok, understood. Thanks geofelt.
I will do my research for Seasonic focus or Corsair RMX PSU available.

Update : I think i am OK with bios version because 0304 version needed is older than my 1002 version :

If your motherboard BIOS version number is greater than the BIOS version listed above, then you will not need to flash your BIOS. However, if your BIOS version is smaller than the version listed above, then you will need to select and download the latest BIOS to update your system. We kindly remind you that there is a certain risk level involved in BIOS flashing, please refer to " BIOS Flashing Method ". If you still have doubts, we will strongly advise you to consult with a PC Professional or your PC dealer for further assistance.
