I have no intention of upgrading to a PCI-E board for at least 18 months. I have read plenty of web site reviews on cards in my price range but I am looking for lessons learned from AGP card users to avoid a costly mistake.

Here is what I am using in my current rig.

AMD Athlon XP 3200 (Socket A 462)
1024 MB PC 3200 Kingston Value
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Nforce2 Ultra 400
ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro 128MB
200 GB SATA Drive
Ultra X-Connect 500W PS

The main games I play are World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2

It took a lot of tweaking to get my system to run at 400MHz which should have been a factory setting. My games would crash to desktop if I ran clock speeds above 166MHz. I had to manually adjust all settings but all is well now. If anyone else is having issues along the same lines I can post the settings I used.

Here are my main requirements:

No other upgrade clauses. I am keeping everything but the video card.
Has to be under $300 plus S&H
Noticeable upgrade from my current card

broke down last night and ordered a BFG GeForce 7800GS OC from zipzoomfly for $320 with tax and 2 day shipping.

I was torn between the eVGA and the BFG after reading THG review of the GS cards. After going to the eVGA forums and reading through the 14 pages of ticked off customers with the GS I went with the "slower" OC card and ordered the BFG.

Now i just hope i dont have compatability issues.
