Hiya <new guy here>,

My business is interested in buying two video cameras and editing
software so we can video tape weddings. Only problem is I'm not sure where
to start. I think we may need/want digital video cameras. What's the best
model? What do I look for in a camera? I will be doing the editing myself
(I will need to upgrade my computer..)What software do guys recommend? Is
there a website that may have some info that I may need?

thanks. :)

Jamie, I use to be a Chevy man, now I am partial to Ford. I use to like
Cannon video gear, now I use Sony but I may go Panasonic in a year. You
have some valid tough questions.

Thoroughly check out:
http://www.camcorderinfo.com

Here is another good site:
http://videoguys.com/

I have been buying photo gear from these people on and off for 30 years:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com

When you are done with the above there go to:
http://www.videohelp.com/

BTW, I was doing weddings in the 60's until I got drafted...

Good luck!

Asking those questions is a little bit like asking.. "What's the best
car?", "Where's the best place to drive it?" Seriously.. :)

Answering could take a huge email.. Here's a few short answers.

Among the most popular Prosumer video cameras are the Sony PD170, and
the new Panasonic AG-DVX100a. Both are 3CCD miniDV. Again, this is a
hard question, and you'll have to do your own homework. The market can
be expensive, and there's hundreds of models to choose from.

As for Editing software, another difficult question. Prosumer editing
would be Vegas Video (a group favorite here), Adobe Premiere Pro (A
personal favorite), and numerous others that I haven't mentioned. On a
more pro level would be Final Cut Pro, and AVID. I work with Film so I
use FCP, but lots of others have had good results depending on what you
want to do.

Sorry.. but this is a huge subject.
