[SOLVED] Need CPU/Motherboard advice

I have an HP 410-017C:
Shave-HSW(Pegatron IPM81-SV)
I3-4170
1TB WD Blue SSD
16GB 1600ram
350w MIPC sx6350 PSU
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650OC, low profile d6

I was told that the i7-4790k would work with this board. I updated the bios, installed the CPU and got an unsupported CPU error. It did recognize the CPU and displayed the correct information, but it says it’s unsupported. I put the i3-4170 back in and it booted back up fine .

My question is: Is there a different bios update I can flash to run this CPU on this board or do I need to upgrade the board? If I need to upgrade the board, any advice on a microATX board for this SFF system?

Core i5-4460T is the only other CPU supoorted by that MOBO according to HP doccumentation.

Also the max TDP for that MOBO is 54W the i7-4790k is 88W.

You will want a z97 board, and a new case. OEM cases tend to be proprietary, only working in the config they are sold with.

One more question. I ran into an HP Kaili2(MS-7826 v2.0). The hp board specs show a z97 Chipset but say it only supports up to 84w tdp. It lists i7-4670k, i7-4770k and i7-47490(non-k). But hp also lists multiple i7-4790k setups with this same board.

For the price I might give it a try.
