Need for Speed Underground 2.. Help?

Just got the game. When I try to play, everything seems to work, but
during the races, the screen is very dark. I can just make out
taillights and some street lights, no road at all (except in the rear
view mirror!).

Does anyone have any ideas?

You don't mention what video card / drivers you have, but I can tell you
than on my FX5900 with 61.76 drivers I got some very weird screen
corruptions until I dropped the overall quality on video settings down a
tad - now all is fine. There have also been a couple of patches out for the
game which, amongst other stuff, corrected graphic probs with certain
OS/driver/GPU combinations.
