Im currently planning to build a pc but I don't know much about pc building. But can someone give me any suggestions to my build? Any parts I should replace? I don't plan to plays games like BF4 or GTA. Just games like League, CS:go, dayz, H1z1, etc. I do not plan to overclock. And the parts I still need to decide to pick are a power supply and extra fans if necessary

My budget is 1100-1300

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor $279.99

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler $28.40

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $139.00

RAM: Kingston Fury Black Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory $59.49

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $119

Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $48.50

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card $204.99

Case: Thermaltake Armor Revo Gene Snow Edition ATX Mid Tower Case $96.98

Power Supply: STILL NEEDED

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer $14.99 (Is this important?)

OS:Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) $99.99

Monitor: Samsung S24D360HL 60Hz 23.6" Monitor $199.90

Total: $1290.23

Sorry for all the questions lol but I thought a good processor would be better and what do you mean by overkill? (Im pretty noobish with all of this mb)

Would this RAM be fine?

If you're interested in PC gaming in not as graphically demanding as say Witcher 3 will be, you could be saving a lot of money. It's hard to say what will change when DX12 (with Win10) is released this summer, but I would always recommend future proofing your build. DX12 will utilize greater than 8g of ram supposedly, but again, building now is kind of risky as nvidia, intel, and motherboard manufacture are working on improving the PCIe bus lanes between motherboards and your GPU to prevent bottlenecks.

First most, if you're going to play a FPS like CS:GO, I highly recommend at least a 120fps 1080p monitor. Because with a high 10K frequency mouse (I use a Steele Series optical), it feels like it's cheating. I would avoid 850 EVO ssd because a lot of people complain about horrible performance lost overtime. I've had a 1TB 840Evo for awhile now, but haven't noticed slow down even though its in a Mac that doesn't support TRIM (very important for SSD).

I7 are overkill for gaming really. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any games support Hyper Threading (difference between I5 and I7). So I would recommend a I5 K series (K means you can overclock) from intel (I don't know AMD as I had crappy experience with for to many years a decade ago). With DX12, you'll see the biggest performance boost with a 6 six core I7 build compared to an I5/I7 build.

I wasn't planning on building it Right away but I was gonna start with the case and the motherboard. I was planning to build the pc in the summer or the ending of the summer anyways. But thanks for the info ill keep updated with it then.

So would the Samsung Pro SSD be better or is it the same thing? And as for monitors, it says the monitor I picked was 1080p. But im not sure if it goes to 120fps.

From what I read on the 850 series is "3d NAND" is still in its infancy, so manufacturing is with fault. A lot of them seem to degrade prematurely. 3d NAND is suppose to be the technology where manufactures can stick 10TB into a single SSD, so if they can't get 1TB and below right, I would steer clear until they hash everything out.

As for monitors, I can't stress enough how much more you would like 27" over 24". As for G-Sync... its a new technology, and the price tag on it is ridiculous.

is the best price range I could find for a 27" 144hz monitor. Rule of thumb, if it supports Nvidia's 3d Vision, it will do 120hz, but most of them don't have the sensor so you need Nvidia's kit. I would honestly say treat yourself and get a 1440p that does 144hz, and I read G-Sync only makes it better. I can't speak from experience on this one because I spent too much money on my current monitor and a 4k tv with hdmi 2.0.

So you're saying I should wait for an ssd? But the reason I don't want to wait is I don't want to install my OS on my hard drive. And this is off topic but is Windows 8.1 any different from Windows 8.1 pro? I heard that Windows 8.1 pro has small differences that do not matter much.

At the moment I don't mind if my monitor isn't the best. Eventually ill buy another monitor and get two monitors but for now I just want a Monitor that is decent. I just don't want to exceed my budget.
