Hawkshot :
I think the RM range of Corsair is when they become acceptable but still not on par with other brands within the same price range they are ok as PSU's but not fantastic that's why I advised OP away from it as I don't want people to get sub par parts for new builds, and yes the AX and AXi are amazing
Valid point, what I was trying to get at is the titan is overkill for both 1080p and 1440p gaming the only thing it is better at than a single 980ti is 4k gaming which at the moment isn't massively useable yet, this was my whole point really we seem to have gone way off both original points we were both trying to make, but none the less OP seems to have made a good choice due to some of the insight offered in this thread so that's good.
Fair enough.

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($374.99 @ Newegg)
For gaming, i7 is generally not recommended when compaired to i5. I wouldn´t suggest Skylake tech either, not because it´s worse - but it demands more costly rams and motherboards. And the new DDR4 rams has no gains in gaming compaired to DDR3. Actually often comes with slower cas latency.
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($74.89 @ OutletPC)
I´d get Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. They are sold at 25 bucks and an extra fan (should you need it) cost 10 bucks at most. A bonus, it´s prettier than the brown Noctua.
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($219.99 @ SuperBiiz)
If you go with a i5 Haswell/ivybridge/sandybridge CPU, you need a different motherboard. Gigabytes Gaming motherboards has a ton of features and rock solid quality.
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg)
DDR3 Rams would be the obvious choice, less expensive and no significant gains at above 1600 Mhz.
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($158.97 @ Newegg)
Fine
Storage: Toshiba 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.00 @ Amazon)
Skip this entirely? - add another SSD if needed.
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($319.99 @ B&H)
GTX 980 TI or Titan X.
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (Black) ATX Full Tower Case ($189.99 @ Amazon)
Fine
Power Supply: Corsair 1200W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($299.99 @ Amazon)
1200 W powersupply is overkill unless you are going for SLI setup with 2 graphics card and overclocking at the same time. Normal SLI does fine within 850 Watts.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($90.99 @ NCIX US)
