As the title says, I would greatly appreciate some informed opinions on ram for my upcoming build. Just for the record, I'm upgrading from an i7 920 system... I think that cpu is a decade old.

Proposed specs for Ryzen build:
CPU: Ryzen 1700x
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming k7
Cooler: idk...maybe cooler master 240
Storage: 1x850 evo 500gb and a couple HDDs
GPU: gtx 1080 ti (EVGA sc2)
PSU: EVGA 850 gold plus
Ram: I can't decide. I kinda want RGB ram but there aren't any currently on the approved vendor list for the board.

Looking forward to those responses! 🙂

As close as i can find, extremely difficult to get lower then that unless you want to sacrifice price-performance.

Not that it matters too much, I plan on utilizing only 16gb for now. Also, I don't believe I can use just any DDR4 memory as Ryzen has been having issues with various ram.

If its RGB ram that you want, G.Skill Trident Z RGB works, just stick with the rainbow effect out of the box through for now as problems with the software corrupt the SPD data on the sticks, until G.skill fully sort the software out.

I'm looking to stay below $2k. Things seem to look like it'll be right around that mark. Also, besides games, I will be doing some productivity that should take advantage of more cores. Also, not a fan of the high temps and the glue I've been reading about with the 7700ks
